According to the National Hurricane Center At 4:a.m. EST the center of Paloma was located about 65 miles east of Cabo Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua/Honduras border. Paloma is moving toward the north-northwest near 7 mph with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days and Paloma could become a hurricane on Friday

At 200 a.m. EDT the center of Omar was located about 30 miles southeast of St. Croix and about 105 miles west-southwest of St. Martin. Omar is moving toward the northeast near 20 mph and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. Reports from an Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 115 mph with higher gusts. Omar is now a Category Three hurricane
